Reading binary records into a 2D array

I have a disk file consisting of successive 88-byte data records, but
don't know the number of records at design time. I need to read them
into a 2D array with BinaryReader prior to further processing .

I'm trying along the lines of:

dim A(,) as byte
...........
redim A(n, 87) ' where n is the number of records

For i = 1 to n
BR.readbytes(A(i, ??), 88) 'BR is previously set up as a valid
Binary Reader
next

But I can't get the syntax of the statement in the loop to assign the
bytes to the second dimension of the array.

Anyone able to help please?
