VB.NET Accessing Secured Content via Unsecurred Page

Hi there, random thought...I have been trying to figure out a solution to
this for a while and thought maybe I could do it programatically:

I have a calendar of events that I created in a Sharepoint site that is
restricted to who can access the data.
I want the public to see those events, but I don't want to go through the
poo opening up the entire portal to anonymous access for that ONE list.

Is there a way I can create a VB.NET or ASP.NET application that sits on an
unsecured web site that returns the data by accessing the calendar through
it, like a proxy?

Thanks,
Derek
