Who Is Herfried K. Wagner?

Howdy, im sure the man himself can answer this..... or his sidekick Cor.
What is an MVP and who put him in charge of this newsgroup?

I dont ask that in a grumpy or derogative way, Ive never met the man but he
seems like a very skilled programmer and I think it's an admirable thing
that he and the others like him, give so much of their time the way they do.
So full credit to you and thanks.

:)

But who did put in him/you in charge? How are these microsoft newgroups
structured? Is it Herfrieds' server this group runs/is mirrored on?

Thanks

:)

I hope this isn't a serious post but in case it is...

It's a designation from Microsoft (Most Valuable Profesisonal). As far as
who he is, I haven't met him but AFAIK he's a young Austrian fellow with a
ton of talent and a really funny sense of humor.

I believe Cor is from the Netherlands or one of those places where they have
one syllable names (I know, Bill only has one syllable but that's
different). Cor is also a very bright fellow with a great sense of humor.
If you flip around the various Newsgroups, you'll see that they both bust
their butts helping people out.

As far as being in charge of this newsgroup, I don't think it's been
officially set yet. Bill Gates and Steve B were about to officially put him
in charge but I think they got mad about that whole fine by the EC so they
cancelled it. To that end, most people that frequent this place defer to
Herfried b/c , well, count his posts and the math becomes obvious. Same for
Cor.

At this point, they'll both probably chastise me for wasting bandwidth with
this sillyness, and that my friend is the answer to your question.... They
are both two guys that do a damned good job keeping things running smooth in
this ng.

Hi Scorpion

I have no "issue" with them, quite the opposite, as per the perceeding two
paragraphs you omitted. However i think William Ryan has answered my
question. This Url fills in the blanks for me:

http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/

Unfortunately William it was a serious question. Im kinda dumb and slow on
the uptake.
Still at least now i know.

:)

Thanks

Glad to hear that you got the information. There was a similar thread
about a similar topic yesterday that was somewhat irritating, so please
forgive that I stayed out of the thread.

No worries. I can understand your hesitation. Looking at it now i suppose it
does look like a trolling subject line. Sorry mate.

I did actually click on your signature Url before i fired off my question
but I must be blind. You know that big bright logo that says MVP at
<URL:http://dotnet.mvps.org/>, i didn't even see it.

:(

All i saw was a page full of what looked like German and i bailed out.
Unfortunately I can program more languages than i can speak. Ive just gone
back now and you know what.... theres a wealth of info about the superstars
of MVP, if only people like me would take the time to click.

Anyway... apologies... no irritation intended.

:)

Thanks
Richard
