AutoScroll and RichTextBox problem

I have a Rich text box in a panel with its autoscroll property set to true.
The text box is much larger vertically than the panel and its text fills up the entire area.
When the user scrolls down the panel a ways then clicks the text box,
the scrollbar jumps to the top of the rich text box and select all the text between where
the user clicked and the top of the Rich Text Box.
It is very frustrating to see the text box jump around all the time
Is this a built in feature of the rich text box? If so, is there a flag I can set to disable it
I am using VS.NET 2003.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer any help on this topic.
