AllowDrop doesn't allow doubleclick to fire

I have a listview and its AllowDrop property is set to True. I need to detect a doubleclick, but the AllowDrop seems to always eat the first click, so the event never fires. Is there a way around this

I tried using the MouseDown event, but it is useless in this case, as I launch a dialog box if e.clicks = 2, and when the mouseup event fires following the dialog box closing, it creates havoc for the framework, causing a crash

Help!
