CompareValidation control with Date datatype

Hi,
I want to validate the date inputted by the user using CompareValidation
control.
My problem is that based on user's selection (day, month, year), the date
format may be: dd/MM/yyyy, MM/yyyy or yyyy.

The only format I can validate with CompareValidation is dd/MM/yyyy.
Does somebody know if there is a way around to use these validation control
with the other two formats? I was thinking of using
RegularExpressionValidator control, but I don't know how to define the
ranges of values (i.e. number max. of months to be 12).
Does anybody have a similar problem?

Thank you.
John
