Installing VS 6.0 after Vs.NET and others

Hey there,

Im running a win xp pro machine that already have VS.NET 2002 installed on
it. I also do some j2me development therefore i have the lastest Java Sdks
from sun installed on the same machine.

Now i need to look at some of my old vb6 code, when i attempt to install
Visual studio 6 it insists i update my JVM !!! hello ! i already have the
latest one installed.. i dont want it to mess up my settings.. How do i skip
that JVM installation or fool it to think i already have it and just let me
install vb6 !

It wants to install a version of Microsoft's JVM. That's not a big
problem AFAIK.

Nevertheless, I prefer installing software in order of its release date
in order to aviod problems.

well cant avoid the order in some situations..
besides the MS JVM will break the SUN java setup i have with it registering
new paths and all that... wasnt that the main reason MS went to court and
decided to disable the JVM in XP so that ppl could use it with Suns actual
java ?

Windows doesn't need Java at all. Nevertheless, if you run a setup
program dated 1998, it won't work with Sun's Java version.

If you want to have both vs6 and vs.net co-exist on same machine, vs6 must
be installed prior to vs.net.

Actually, I found that installing VS 6 and then VS .NET causes some problems
with the add-ins for VS 6. I have installed it both ways around.
