Oracle connection object

I'm using VB.NET as a front-end for an application that uses an Oracle database. At one point in my code
I insert a record into a table in my Oracle database. I then call a function in another class that selects
from this same table. But the record I just inserted is not found in my query...it's as if the insert never took
place...does anyone know why this is happening?

I'm thinking that it might have to do with how my Oracle connection object is passed....I have the connection
open in the inserting class that calls the querying function. The connection is still open when i call the querying
function. This function has it's own local oracle connection. I even tried passing the oracle connection object as a parameter into my querying function but it doesn't work....
