Named Pipes

Hello all

Ive been trying to get a service app that i run to interact with the logged
on user of the machine and so far havent been very successfull and have read
that maybe named pipes is the way to go. Im hoping someone has some
information and easy to understand examples on named pipes. Basically i need
my service app to signal a user app thats running and send basic text to it.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Hi,

Maby this will help:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...ipe_server.asp

List of API's you will need to use:
CreateNamedPipe
ConnectNamedPipe
DisconnectNamedPipe
ReadFile
WriteFile
FlushFileBuffers
CloseHandle

I have commercial library that uses named pipes for IPC (interprocess
communication) wirten in VB.NET.
if you are interested see this:
http://www.habjansoftware.com/ipc_library.aspx (full source code is
included in price)

Regards,
Josip Habjan
