Who's Employed ?

Just Wondering who here ( That regularly posts, Like Cor, Armin HW etc ) are actually employed in a job. I'm out of work at the moment, I cant see how some of you could put so much effort in if you were in an employment.

Hi, I post here occasionally but I post a lot on other groups. VB isn't my preferred language.

I'm self-employed, or occasionally, self unemployed ;-)

Happily at the moment I am working more or less full time on a contract for a company that's coming up to a year duration. They can potentially drop me any given month though so theres not a lot of job security in there.

Well, some call it self-employed, some unemployed...

Yeah, I'm a bit like you as well. Ive just come out of a 4 year contract with a large mobile network provider, now I can say 'How are you?', you get my drift.

I've been out of work since mid october, so i've tried to use my time here to help myself learn more about .NET. learning .NET is not a super fast process as it is 'Vast', however, I find it very interesting and really like to do things with it.

CJ,
Personally, I consider this "training", by reviewing and answering questions
you are being exposed to far more situations then most would via your normal
work.

When you then come upon one of these situations in your normal work, you
will have already been exposed to it, thus being able to solve & do your
normal work quicker.

Further I would think answering questions on a newsgroup is far less
unproductive, then watching others via remote desktop. Especially if you are
a developer. I would hope if you are a developer your "boss" knows you are a
professional and treats you as such.

Of course I know a couple developers who act in a very unprofessional
manner, and probably should be watched ;-) However if I were their boss, I
would dismiss them rather then watch them.

Hope this helps
Jay

As do I. I have beocome 300 times the programmer I was by participating and
learning from others... Plus, people get the same situations as I do, so I
like to see how they solved it, see if I agree and try to derive my own idea
to at least keep some creativity to the process =).
