Convert from System. types to SQLServer types

Hi, I'm making a stored procedure code generator in VB.NET.
I need to generate the parameters variables, for example, to generate:
@LastName nvarchar(20) ,
@FirstName nvarchar(10) ,
@Title nvarchar(30)

Is there an automatic way to map the types recieved from the FillSchema to
SQLServer Types? For example
from System.Int23 to int, or from System.String to nvarchar(#).

Will I have to map it manually?

Please help.
