open New form and hide old

i use the following code to move to another form with in my VB .net project,

Dim myForm As New Form2()
myForm.Show()

however form one remains open,

how can i hide form1,

On page 7 there is a chapter called "Form navigation and Interaction".
It teaches how to open a second form before closing the first the proper
way!
