XML and Datagrids

I am new to this stuff and need help with my confusion.

I have some tabular data I want to display. Nothing complex. It consists
of 3 columns of text. I will have about 25-100 rows of this. I want to be
able to add rows, delete rows and edit any of the columns. Pretty standard
stuff.

I am thinking that a datagrid would be the best choice. One issue is that I
am reading the data from an XML file stored on disk rather than a database.
After the changes are made, I want to write the file back out.

I don't seem to be able to find any info or examples on how to do this. Do
I even want to use a datagrid or is another control a better choice?

Also, if I am trying to choose a control to use how do I know what control
to use? For example, say that the datagrid is the best choice. If I right
click on the toolbox and click on Customize Toolbox, I get a list of every
control available. How do I know to use a Grid Control (tried to and it
said I did not have a license for this), a Grid DTC, Microsoft DataGrid
Control 6.0, Microsoft FlexGrid Control, MSFlexGridWizard, or what? Some of
these look like Visual Studio 6 controls.

Thanks

I don't know whether you will be satisfied to use dataGrid, since it is not
easy to customize it. However, it is even easier if your data in an Xml
file, but not in DataBase.

You actually need create a DataSet, and bind it to the DataGrid to make it
work. The DataSet supports you read/write data from/to an Xml file
directly. (ReadXml, WriteXml...)

However, it requires you to use the XML format defined by DataSet. If you
don't have the choice, since the format of your Xml has already been
defined. You might have to write your own function to fill in the dataSet
from your XML file, and write it out too.

Of course, some people will use XSLT style sheet to covert XMLs. It also
works if your are familiar with those stuff.
