Passing objects into Web Services

To get a foot hold in the area of web services I have created the
following small project.

I have created a group of classes to describe a overall Request class.
the Request Class is made from a Customer, Sub Contractor and Task
Class. The Sub Contractor and Customer classes inherit from an abstract
Organisation Class.

I have created a Web Application that assigns user input to the Request
Class (Through a DLL instance). I have then created a Web Service that
also references the instance of the DLL that contains the Request Class.
So that both applications are talking about the same things.

Trying to pass the Request object from the Web Application to the Web
Service I get a "cant convet type Request into type localhost.request".
But at this stage they are both pointing to the same DLL.

What are the constraints associated with passing objects into a Web
Service. I have read a brief article on the subject and it appears that
serialisation is the key. Is this correct.

thanking you in advance
