Tricks to play on fellow student

Hi

I have just started vb.net (june 2003) and me and my fellow students are
playing some tricks on each other(not harmfull) I have already managed to
shut down the pc without saving anything when the program is run can anyone
suggest anything else i can do. If you do not whant to give the code that is
fine just give me a idea and i will try and figure it out on my own ...
good way to learn the language.

Hi,
Norm harmfull, for who. Some people can be very angry if it goes like a
virus?
And I dont think you will make that, but someone who gets it from you can
maybe make it from what you did make.
I find it dangerous.

no nothing that will attack a system or reveal any sort of info to me.

I was thinking of Prank style things like a mock format I wrote that looked
exactly like the real format of win xp and had a icon of a windows media
player file (.mp3).This was sent to my friend(email) who when he tried to
listen to this mp3 in advertendly ran my fake format program and thought he
was actually formatting the hardrive when infact it was just a timer used
to make it look like the progress bar is slowly moving.

I do not want to know about retrieving or damaging any part of the other
persons pc it is purely for pulling pranks on my fellow students and friend.

I am very happy at the place I am studying and do not want to do anything to
harm my chance of graduating.I just want to make the boring parts(like
system analysis) worth the trouble by having a laugh.
Hope this answers any questions?

Hi there,

I have done this before, with a program I wrote in VB6, it was basically
a non-harmful trojan that I could connect to using hyperterminal and send
simple commands, such as

* Displaying a custom message box on the screen like ("Warning!! User is
a tosser!!")
* Swapping the left and right mouse buttons over (Was very very
humerous)
* Playing a sound on the remote system (Especially a cow mooing!)
* Positioning the mouse cursor at different points on the screen
* Minimizing all active windows

I don't applaud doing this kind of thing but it is a great way to learn
VB if you are doing it simply within your office, and not trying to give it
to others. I used to wind up a collegue by doing the above and he wouldn't
have a clue what was going on, I could just hear him swearing constantly!
Haha :-)

Nick.

I'm still trying to figure out how this is an unharmful idea.

The question is, student or not, could you effect their productivity in some
way? I think the answer is yes. in which case, you want to come onto a
Microsoft board and ask how to exploit holes or piss people off.

Not the "best" idea. My advice, yes, this is a good way to learn
programming, but don't mess with other people when your doing it. Thats
just cruel and unfair.

Haha,

I learnt allot from doing silly things like that, if I hadn't I probably
would never have learnt VB6. I still remember the day that I got into
learning how to communicate with an SMTP server via a WinSock control, after
many efforts I finally sent a work collegue an email something like...

"Hi Frank, this is a note just to remind myself how much of a fat
bastard I am!"

The boss was not best pleased, and I recieved some flak for said
"crime". But I eventually persuaded him that it was all in the name of
"learning" and that "Frank" was the one who should be blamed for over
reacting, thus and so "Frank" was in "deep doo doo" ;-) haha

A long time ago I wrote a little program (in vb6) that wasn't visible to

the user and regularly 'printed' a couple of white pages.

I also had a little program with a slowly moving window and when the
user moved the mouse onto the window to close it, it rapidly moved
away from the mouse. It was almost impossible to close that window :-)
