VB.Net MenuItem component - How to use Help Provider?

I have a VB.Net 2003 desktop Windows application to which I need to add
help display.

I have added a HelpProvider and assoicated CHM file - which works fine with
all controls on the forms.

But - as in plain VB - my client wants the 'F1' help action to work on

As menuitems are components and not controls they don't have the associated
ToolTip or HelpProvider properties.

How do I add this functionality to menuitems?

Do I have to add new events to each MenuItem?
Adn - if so - what event do I need to add and how do I configure it to work
with my HelpProvider and the F1 key?
Any 'help' greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to enable a menuitem in the parent form from a mdichild. Rather than making the menuitems public, I'd go for a public method in the parent form to do the change, but when I call the method from the mdichild, I get this error: C:\MyProjects\Visual Studio Projects\Tournament\Forms\frmLogin.cs(69): The name 'test' does not exist in the class or namespace 'Tournament.frmLogin' frmLogin is the mdichild.

Basically, the following code creates a menuItem array and tries to use it twice. In the following piece of code, only the line that appears second gets used. The first becomes ignored presumably when the second is run. Me.mnuFile.MenuItems.AddRange(myMenu) Me.ContextMenu1.MenuItems.AddRange(myMenu) Below I've included just enough code to see it as an example. Can someone explain to me why this happens?

I have an application where I need to set certain menu items invisible based on a user privilege. We did a sinmlar thing in VB6 and used the menu item's tag property to assign an identifier to each menu entry, then used that identifier as an index into a collection populated at user login in order to determine the item's visibility. Now, for some reason there's no tag property for .NET MenuItems, so I'm looking for some way to...

Dear fellow software engineers, Is the web menu in asp 2.0 essentielle a useless control ? How many people( including msdn itself) are using server menu controls? Its a menu which always postback to server, which cant be caught on the event of a menuitem. Wouldnt we rather use other ways of making menus which are essentially clientsite ? With its postback its certainly not high on usebility. Then we have to use ajax or javascript...

Is it possible to have a component which is global to the entire application? I need to have a single component act sort of like a server which components in any of the forms can access. For example if I drop a component on Form1 & Form2 and that component has a property called Server, at design time I would like to be able to assign the global component to the Server property. I'm sure I'm asking for way too much...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
