ManagementScope And administrative Shares

Why do I get an ManagementScope invalid paremeter exeption when I do
use a administrative share (c$)?

I may be going about this the wrong way however, basically I am writing
a Server side client update program, I need to be able to launch and
exicutable on the clients michine so that I can register activex
controls. Is there an easier way to get this functionallity than
having a client side application, launched from a server side command?

Thanks for all help.

Hi All, I'm currently using "os.listdir" to obtain the contents of some slow Windows shares. I think I've seen another way of doing this using the win32 library but I can't find the example anymore. My main problem with using "os.listdir" is that it hangs my gui application. The tread running the "os.listdir" appears to block all other threads when it calls this function.

Hello I'm trying to connect to another server via WMI, and it works just fine. But everytime it first tries to connect with the current user credentials, which naturally don't exist on the remote server, resulting in Failure Audit entries in the EventLog. After some googling I discovered that this is a known problem, but nobody has a workaround. So I thought I'd try again ;-) Here's some sample code to demonstrate the behaviour:

Hi, I have succesfully used a ManagementScope object to get WMI information about workstations on the current domain using "//xp10/root/cimv1". But if I make a request to a workstation on a sub-domain, the command fails to connect with "Access denied". Do I need to alter the string somehow to include the sub domain name or could this be a rights issue ? Thanks in advance, Adrian

Hello, is there a way to limit the time a "ManagementScope.Connect" execution takes to end before it times out by itself? I tried using ConnectionOptions.TimeOut property to no avail. I am trying with the code below to scan a group of computers, but there are still a few computers that take way more than two seconds to time out. Please, any help or pointers will be greatly appreciated. Dim options As New ConnectionOptions

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
