Where should set the Root Namespace?

Hi, I find that while I can use the "Namespace...En d Namespace" inside my
code, there is also a "Root namespace" field in the project properties
dialog box under General.

So where should I put my REAL root namespace, or should I leave it blank, or
should I create any at all?

Please advice. Thanks in advance.

Preference? Anywho, most of my applications have several projects:

UI
DAL
BLL
Schema
Exceptions

To name a few...

So, in each project, I name the project after the namespace it falls under and
type of project it is...IE: Myth.Applicatio ns.MyApplicatio n.BLL or
Myth.WebControl s.Menu.BLL.

Under the root namespace in the project properties, I place the root namespace
(as well as the project name). So, if I need something under a sub-namespace of
a specific project, I just need to use the Namespace keyword in the code and wrap
it with just the sub-namespace. IE:

In Myth.WebControl s.Menu.BLL if I need (for example only) a namespace for
Enumerations, I just use:

Namespace Enumerations
...
End Namespace

Now, the fully qualified namespace is Myth.WebControl s.Menu.BLL.Name space.

Hope this helps show you what I use and also show that it is mostly preference
(there are some reasons why beside preference...ma intainability and soforth later
on down the road).

in addition, have a look at documentation:

Root namespace
Sets the base namespace for all files in the project. For example, if you
set the root namespace to Project1 and you have a Class1 outside of any
namespace in your code, its namespace would be Project1.Class1 . If you have
a Class2 within a namespace Order in code, its namespace would be
Project1.Order. Class2.
It is also possible to clear the Root namespace property, which allows you
to manually specify the namespace structure of your project. See the
Namespace Statement for more information on creating namespaces in your
code.

I have a question about using XSL to extract information from an SVG (XML) file that has a DOCTYPE/DTD declaration. I am able to do this successfully if I write my own SVG files without such a declaration. However, I would like to extract some parts of an SVG file exported by illustrator. When I try this, my XSL file is no longer able to access the nodes in the SVG document properly - somehow related to the DOCTYPE/DTD declaration. ...

Should the Root Namespace be something like Microsoft. Or maybe Microsoft.MyControl I think the root applies only to things defined in the project. Nothing to do with namespaces referenced in the project. Is that correct?

Hi, I suspect that this isn't possible, but I figured I'd ask. My project has a root namespace, let's say it's "Root", that applies to almost every source file (which is why I've set it as the project's root namespace). However, the project also includes a couple of source files whose contents will live in an entirely different namespace, let's say the "Special"

Hi all, I created an XSD to define the structure of an XML file for my project. I made an XML file linked to the XSD using XmlSpy. The problem is that if I read the file using .NET XmlDocument and then query for the root element, the result is always null (1). However if I strip the root element of all attributes generated by XmlSpy, then there is no problem to find the root element with .NET XML classes (2). (1) The XML for which...

Hi, We have a number of projects that will use the default 'Root Namespace' option in the project properties box. There will be a common Master Page that will be used among the projects. I'd like to be able to use the master page without including the root namespace in the masterpage Page declaration. In the example below, 'TESTApp' is the default Root namespace (the name of the project) <%@ Page Language="vb"

I just converted an ASP.NET Web Site to be an ASP.NET Web Application project type in Visual Studio 2005. After the conversion, the whole thing still works - it builds and the Web app runs just fine. However, none of the classes are placed explicitly in any namespace. The ASP.NET Web Site project type apparentlyl infers namespace from the site's directory structure. But Visual Studio's conversion process ("Convert to Web Application") does...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
