Unload DLL Module from Owner Process

Hi folk,

is there a possibility to unload a (DLL-) Module from its owner Process
within a VB.NET Application?
With other words, how can I unload at Runtime a DLL, which my
Application has loaded, from the memory.

I'm very thankful for your Help!

If you load it into a separate app domain, you can unload it by
unloading the app domain.

I have 2 questions. 1.. How do unload an imported module? 2.. how do I test for the existance of a method in a module without running it?

Hi there. There are various snippets on forums regarding issues with AppDomain.Unload and how it just doesnt work. Fortunately, I got it working with the base case, after much fiddling. Consider this 5 line program: AppDomain domain = AppDomain.CreateDomain("MyDomain"); domain.CreateInstance("TempDLL", "TempDLL.Class1"); MessageBox.Show("try deleting file now"); //cant delete file AppDomain.Unload(domain);

I think I've found a possible issue with .Net AppDomain.Unload when using attribute LoaderOptimization.MultiDomain. Here you will need ProcessExplorer from SysInternals to see what assemblies are loaded for a given process. You will need to add the following code into HelloWorld1.cs and compile through the CS compiler. csc HelloWorld1.cs // C# Sample Code

I'm programming an VB.NET application wich is using a third-party COM-DLL-module. The Module is only loaded if needed. And now my problem: My Application doesn't end correct and hang up itself. After I have closed my application, i can see in the task manager a CPU Load about over 95%. I could verify that this only happens, if the COM Module was used by my application. If the Module wasn't used then my application ends correct. With an...

Is it possible to unload a module after I've imported it. I have the main program from which I import several smaller programs. Some of these uses timeoutsocket module. But one of the smaller program can not work with the timeoutsocket module, so I must unload the timeoutsocket module, execute the program and then reload timeoutsocket module. So, s it possible to unload a module after I've imported it.. Thanks L.

I have this DllImport attribute on an external C++ dll. What i am noticing that the dll isn't unloaded after the static method is complete. I was thinking that when the method (it is a static method) completed then the dll would be unloaded. Is there a way i can force this to unload or will i have to use loadlibrary? danny

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
