Mat,

The original column index stays with the column when a user changes the
order.
hope that helps

Reposted as the original is reported as deleted from the server. re: MSComCtl Listview control cashes after installing VB6/VS6 SP6 I have been advised that this problem has been reproduced and a hotfix has been prepared. The supporting KB article and hotfix download link have yet to be posted, but I can provide you with the following information for those requiring an immediate fix:

Once you reorder the listview items, largeicon or smallicon view will not follow the order of list or detail view which is the correct order. For example with a listview as lvProdImg.items(0).text="img0" lvProdImg.items(1).text="img1" lvProdImg.items(2).text="img2" lvProdImg.items(3).text="img3" once it is reordered as lvProdImg.items(0).text="img2" lvProdImg.items(1).text="img0" lvProdImg.items(2).text="img1"

Hi, When I use the AllowColumnReorder in the ListView Control, this allows the user to reorder columns by dragging them around. Any items added to the control after the user has reordered them appear in the correct column (this is good). Is there any way to determine what the original ordinal position of the column was before it was reordered?

I want the users to be able to reorder the columns in a few of my listview controls. It's easy enough to make that change in the listview control but I can't seem to find a way to get the new ordering back from the control. Because of this I don't see any way that I can save the new column order for them. Is there any way to do this?

When you set the Listview's property AllowColumnReorder to True, users can reorder the columns (quite logical I guess)... Bus how on earth can I obtain from code what order these columns are in??? I want to save these settings (to the registry or to a file) so that the program can recall which order of columns the user prefers.... Thanks

When I fill a listview, I resize the columns to fit the data. I need to know if the data will fit vertically or if there will be a vertical scroll bar. I need to know this so I can allow for it on the overall size of the listview. My question therefore is, how can I tell if the items I have added will fit in the listview at its given height? A secondary one, just for interest sake...is there a way to determine the exact heght needed...

hello My question is, after we allow the column reorder can we modify the order of columns through our code. What I need to do is reorder the listview columns so the first column with the checkboxes switches position with the middle column(there are five columns in the listview)? Thank you in advance, D.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
