JFB
Hi Folks,
Does anyone implement an application using vb.net and MSDE 2000? or anyone

Can I use in my pc with sql2000 and vb.net to create the all application and
them create an MSI file and install the application in the client pc but
including MSDE 2000 into the setup?
This is a small app and I want to use MSDE 2000 for now, if the data grow I
want to use sql2000.
Tks in advance and any tip will be appreciate.

I have a distributed inventory control database that I am going to migrate from Access to SQL Server. I am going to use SQL Server Replication to keep the data current. There will one SQL Server 2000 database at HeadOffice, and about 200 branches will each have MSDE 2000. For tables that are the same for each branch (e.g. StockItems, Suppliers), I'm going to use Transactional replication with the HeadOffice as Publisher. There is no...

I was wondering if any of you guys can kindly help me in finding all the different versions of MSDE 2000 that came out since it's first release. I expected to find something similar like Sun's archive (http://java.sun.com/products/archive/index.html) for MSDE 2000 too but failed to find after a few hours of browsing at the Microsoft Download Center (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en). They seem more into...

I'm looking for a simple way of telling (inside a stored procedure) if I'm currently using MSDE or a full SQL server. Ideally, there is some pre-defined environment variable that won't cause me too much overhead. The reason I'm doing this is because my system "rolls over" databases when it reaches the 2Gb limit with MSDE, but obviously I want to avoid this overhead if the user installs onto a full SQL server instance. Thanks

Hi all, I just got SQL Server 2000, but I already have MSDE installed. Is there any reason I would want to keep MSDE around on my computer if I install SQL Server 2000? I use MS Visual Studio 2002 on Windows XP SP2, in case it makes any difference. I intend to deinstall MSDE before installing SQL Server 2000, but I get the impression from a few posts that some people have both installed and I'm not sure why that would be done. What...

Hi all, Here is my situation. I have an application that uses SQL 2000. The client has a program that uses MSDE. The client MUST have the MSDE version of the Database. What I have done is to create a SQL 2000 Database that is exactly like the MSDE version. What I wish to do, is at regularly scheduled intervals, update the SQL 2000 Data with the newest MSDE Data. On my clients server, they have both MSDE and SQL 2000 installed the...

I posted this in one of the VB forums but I'm starting to think it might be more appropriate to have it here, since it really seems to be a SQL server (MSDE/Express 2005) problem: Hey, all, I have a problem with queries against a SQL server instance that I just found and is causing me fits. I hope someone can point me in the right direction, please. TIA. Basically, I got a Vista OS machine to test my VB6 app on it as some

Hello, all, I started out thinking my problems were elsewhere but as I have worked through this I have isolated my problem, currently, as a difference between MSDE and SQL Express 2005 (I'll just call it Express for simplicity). I have, to try to simplify things, put the exact same DB on two systems, one running MSDE and one running Express. Both have 2 Ghz processors (one Intel, one AMD), both have a decent amount of RAM (Intel system...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
