In spite of trying various ways of loading .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 under my new WinXP Service pack 1, I was unable to get it to install. Typically, the installation would hang after a minute or two of execution. After many hours of frustration, I called Microsoft tech support and discussed the issue with them. After asking around, the support person said there indeed was a bug in the installation file, and to forget about it...

Hello, I have Windows 2003 Server with .Net Framework 1.1 installed (part of the OS), and have used Windows Update to install the Service Pack 2 (the only way you can install it). The install seems to go fine, but Windows Update keeps telling me I need to install Service Pack 2. I have had this happen on other computers. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if it is installing it or not. I am investigating this, as I am...

I have an ASP.NET (VB.NET) application that calls all VB6 COM DLL via Interop. The DLL uses functionality contained in a Custom OCX Control (Also VB6) that in turn contains a standard TreeView control. The Custom OCX is not used for visual purposes, but has some functionality that we require (hence hosting an OCX in a DLL). Everything worked fine until we installed the latest service pack for each respective windows operating system:...

It took me a full day to redo my whole computer while I was on the phone with Dell. I also had downloaded the 2006 version of Norton antivirus before I downloaded the service pack 2. I keep getting updates to download the service pack 2. I have no support anymore for service pack 1. What do I do to...

I've been running with service pack 2 installed for a long time. Lately my system got unstable and I had to do a Windows XP Pro reinstall using the repair option. My system has automatically been reinstalling updates except Service Pack 2. When I go to the download site it says I already have service pack 2 installed. There is an icon in my system tray saying that service pack 2 isn't installed. What can I do to get rid of the icon or...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
