Other than Visual Source Safe

I think I've asked this question before, but is there anything else that is
JUST like Visual Source Safe but isn't vss?

I've looked at Draco, Perforce, etc. And they all offer similar things, but
I want something just like VSS but isn't vss. Draco uses VSS repositories
and Perforce isn't built into .NET 2003 IDE at all.

So does it exist? is there a CVS server that integrates just like Visual
Source Safe?

Thanks,
CJ

Google for "Subversion " (there is an add-in available for VS.NET).

Herfried:

Have you used Subversion before? If so, did you like it? We're using VSS
but it's a little pricey and I've heard a lot of good stuff about
Subversion.

Thanks,

Bill

I used subversion before and it worked really good, but we didn't use it
with VS.NET.

Using Visual Studio 2003 you were able to manage SQL stored procedures with Visual Source Safe. So long as Visual Studio was used as the editor, it was imposible to make a change to a stored procedure without first checking it out. And once the changes were complete, the stored procedure was checked back into Visual Source Safe. This process...

Two Questions: 1. Can you install Visual Source Safe on one box and the database (the code) stored on another. I know there might be a degree of latency over the network, but we only have 3 developers. 2. Does anyone know of any gotcha running Visual Source Safe on a cluster. Windows 2003 Active/Passive cluster configuration.
