My title may not be worded correctly, but here is what I am looking for.
We have a local CERT team that we are looking for a better way to track skills, participation and provide better communications. We have no budget for this project as it is all volunteer. We will have some county IT resources at our disposal though.
I am currently building the server on ClearOs which is based on Centos. I have thought about Ubuntu due to it's vast software availability, but prefer a Centos based system due to stability.
I have read some posts regarding some available software such as Drupal, word press and Boonex (Dolphin). While some of these may offer the features we need, we need a more secure system.
I have full access to the server and it has no restrictions on what I can install.
It will be hard to describe the system without making this a very long post, but I will try.
We currently have 1200+ members and growing. Talking old school what would work perfectly would almost be a "web based" BBS system. That would take case of the multiple security levels. I would need a module that could track skills for each user that "admins" could edit, but users could view. I would like the following modules - Calendar, forums, email and internal communications (IM, PM, etc)
That is it in a nutshell. I can gather all of the individual modules/software individually, but need to make it user friendly and integrated. The organization currently uses an access db and I am trying to get them into the new millennium. I prefer a community based support system with the option to buy support if needed and no up-front cost for the download/installation. This also has to be hosted on our own servers.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated. I am familiar and like the way Drupal works, but like I mentioned it has to be more secure that PHP
Thanks in advance
Ryan
