I must admit, I don't know fedora very well, but I have an idea, how to solve this in the console.
First of all, start a console (of course). Then type
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. iwconfig
and one (or more) of the devices should have quite detailed information. This device (e.g. eth2) is your wireless adapter.
Now make sure, this ethernet device is started:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. su
  2. ifup eth2
  3. exit
(replacing eth2 with the correct device name)
If this still doesn't work, I'll need a bit more information about your wireless network - is there a WEP or WAP protection? If so, have you set the network key? Have you set it to the correct essid? Oh, and what is the output of iwconfig (not as root)?

It would also be helpful to know some information about the wireless network you are trying to connect to. For instance, the type of security. For instance, I have no problem connecting to most networks but any network with PEAP authentication just doesn't seem to work.

That's weird, it might not be finding the correct modules for the internal WiFi card. But we might be able to solve it, even with Fedora.

If you open a console and type
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. iwconfig
then it will list your network interfaces and give detailed information about any wireless interface. Maybe you'll post the output of that here?
Also, the command
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. iwlist eth? scanning   # replace the ? with the correct number
should list all available wireless networks. Please post that output too.
Also please post the name of the network interface in your Laptop (or, if you can't find that, the model name of your Laptop). Then we'll see if we can connect you.

Oh, do you have any other WiFi card available? (PCI-Express, PCMCIA, USB,...) If so, you could check if connecting to the network works with that.
