transferring from linux to unix

111 100+
Hi the question that i have is probably really simple.
but i'm more used to a windows environment.

basically, my current CMS (built in PHP) is built to run in a windows environment.

i was told that i need to test it on a linux box as it will soon be transferred over to a linux box. I managed to get php and mysql installed on the linux box, only to find out that the CMS is no longer going to be hosted on Linux, but unix.

I don't have a unix box to test on, but since Linux is a build from unix, am i right in assuming that if the CMS works on Linux it will also wotk on unix.

Never assume but it should be close if it doesn't. Linux is not a build from Unix but is Unix-like. One quick and easy way to find out is to install FreeBSD, which is a direct decendent from Unix. A quicker and easier install would be PC-BSD which would be more like Ubuntu.
