mount vfat on sdb1 ??

hi...

i am using arm-linux.. i want to mount my usb using vfat filesystem.

Currently it only allow me to mount using msdos filesystem.

Is there any way to change the /etc/fstab file to let it mount using vfat?

Have you tried setting the type to vfat in fstab?

Hi.. i tried to set the type to vfat in fstab but it doesnt work... Does it mean that the system doesnt support vfat?

Depends. What error message(s) do you get?
Can you mount the folder as vfat using mount on the command line?

What format is the drive you are trying to mount?

Hi..

The format of the drive is Fat16 USB device...

when i try to mount it, the error msg is " No such device"

The format of the drive is Fat16 USB device...
This would be why you are not able to mount it as VFAT, as FAT16 does not support long file names. Perhaps you should reformat (if possible), or deal with it being mounted as it is.

Hi..

it doesnt allow me to mount as vfat even if the filesystem of the thumbdrive is FAT32...

are you facing this problem only for your usb? i mean are you able to mount other devices of fat32 type without any error?
