I have heard the the BSDs come out-of-the-box with almost nothing set up - including network support (which is partially why they can be (note attempt at diplomatic language as to not start religious flame-war) more secure). I have been a Debian Linux person for quite a while, and only after losing my Sarge CDs and finding an Ubuntu CD have I become displeased with that (apparently the version I have not only does not come with gcc, but also does not have it in its repositories, and when I apt-get it, there is a problem with glibc...), and now have the time and opportunity to install another OS.
I was wondering what level of technical expertise was required (I have used Linux for several years, but believe most of my knowledge now lies with Windows), and where to find the best documentation for an installation (in case something like network support is not standard).
Thanks,
Snake
