hi all
i just bought a new laptop and put ubuntu mint 2.1 bea on it and there seems to be a problem with the wireless card. i think the driver exists because when i use the iwconfig it shows wlan0 and also in the networking section of administration. i am not sure if this always displays and mabe i don't have it installed or if i am not configing somthing right. i have configured the essid and entered the wpa encryption key.

if i need to install a driver does anyone know if i can find a driver for a 802.11g MiniPCI wireless card with a relink chipset. i would try to use the ndis wrapper but i couldn't get it to work with a bootable version i used to use

This may be a stupid question, but have you run:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. $ ifconfig wlan0 up
?

The only wireless cards I have had have been broadcom, and I needed to set them up using ndiswrapper. I never had any problem with this though.

I tend to use Toshiba laptops with Fedora, Ubuntu and Suse and in the main they find the drivers for the hardware OK (display, sound card, LAN, WLAN, etc)
