I'm afraid I don't understand what you are looking for. A *nix filesystem is best represented with a tree structure - '/' being the ... root ... of the structure.

Are you looking for more of a source/derivative (starting with UNIX from MaBell, and then going to the different flavors of Linux) mapping?

i have read somewhere that UNIXconsists of two main parts which are always pictured like a nut with a central kernel surrounded by a shell and a concentric ccles with some labels and explanationof role...... mmmmm can't find it now. that is why this request pl.
