Our developers suddenly need to specify port number.

Hi, The infrastructure team is making a lot of physical changes to the servers. We are moving out of one place to another. Developers used to be able to just connect to a SQL instance no problem. I have not changed anything on the SQL setup. Now in order for developers to connect they need to specify port number. i.e. INSTANCE NAME, PORT NUMBER This is a clustered environment and the team believes they set everything up exactly the same as before and have deferred the issue over to the DBA team. I have not set this cluster up but so far I have not seen anything out of the ordinary.

What is causing this? I think I need to modify the settings in the surface area configuration but I want to be conservative before I shut anything else down inadvertantly. Any one come across this issue before?

Thanks in advance for any help.
