Visual Studio "freezes" when connecting to MSSQL

When I open a package in my VS2005 application, it's showing a warning that there's a connection string for a datasource that needs to be synchronized.
Clicking the [OK] button "freezes" VS2005 for more than 10 minutes and the CPU for sqlserver goes to 50% and uses the max memory space.

How to tackle this behaviour ?

That indicates to me that SQL Server is trying to do something that takes a long time. It's not crashed as such. It's just doing something which takes a while longer than the timeout for an expected response.

More than that I cannot say I'm afraid. I no longer have access to a SQL Server and there's too little detail to build on (Not that I expect I could be much more help even with a wealth of detail if I'm honest).

Have you made any progress on this Nico? Are you still needing an help with it?

Hi NeoPa,

Yes, still looking for a solution. It's obviously SQL server that's slowing it down, but resetting the data adapter and reinstalling Visual Studio didn't solve the problem yet...

We're now trying to create a virtual server and install everything from scratch, but that will take a while.
Know any SQL Server veterans ?

Only among our experts. I'll post a link in the Help thread for you though ;-)

My SQL Server skills are far too limited to help here I'm afraid, and I no longer have access to my SQL Servers at work since I'm working for myself now (I left that job last year).
