Slow SQL Server Express (50 times slower than on other machine!)

1
Hello,

last week we installed a SQL Server 2008 R2 Express edition on a production machine (OS = Win XP with 2Gb ram & Core2Duo CPU)

It's running very very slow. A sample query is taking about 1m30seconds to complete, allthough on my laptop it only takes 2 seconds with the same version of SQL Server and the same database (copy of the production database)

Any thoughts, this is really driving me nuts??
What I allready did:
- update statistics
- rebuild all indexes
- restart sql server service

The production server is not loaded (low cpu load and low memory load)

Another strange thing: the query takes about 1m30seconds to complete in de management studio but is faster when I run it through our application (about 30 seconds then)

Network isn't an issue because I don't go over the network (I do work locally)

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Kenny
