The timeout period elapsed prior to completion

Hi All,
I am archana I get this error whenI try to connect to sql through studio mangament."Timeout expired.The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.(Microsoft sql server)".I am not able to connect noramlly to sql server.Can anyone help out in this issue.
