Move MDF From 2005 Back To 2000

Hi,

Apparently, even if you set the database type to 2000, when you create a database in 2005, it is marked as 2005 regardless, and you cannot then mount the files on a 2000 installation.

This is also apparently true of any 2000 MDF that you attach to a 2005 server, change some data, detach and try to re-attach to the original 2000 server. The files get flagged as 2005.

Is there any way to re-attach a MDF file to a 2000 installation after they have been manipulated on a 2005 installation?

There's nothing being added or removed in terms of SQL objects that are not already in the database files, just some data manipulation happens.

Regards,
Rob.
