Open SQL backup file

Hello,

I was e-mailed a .bak file which should include the database (dll) for my website which is currently being hosted in a shared microsoft sql server. Since I am using a shared server they explained to me that they could not give me access to the server for me to view my data and make changes if needed. I have not been able to open the BAK FILE (.bak) folder, which by the way says should open with windows shell common and has a size of 76.1MB; it has a security statement on properties that states that the file might be blocked to help protect the computer it came from. I was advice to download Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express, which I did, but am stuck....I do not know what to do next...
Please help,
Eve
