TPC-C Benchmark Kit

Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can find an implementation of the TPC-C
benchmark for SQL Server 2000 (preferably written in .NET) ? All I can
find is an old Microsoft implementation of TPC-B written in C, and my
C skills are rusty to say the least :( Oracle seems to have Hammerora,
so maybe someone ported it to SQL Server ? In the worst case, if
anyone would be interested in collaborating on writing such an
implementation, I'd be more than happy to get it started.

Thanks,

Oliver

Oliver,

Just go to www.tpc.org and download the full disclosure of a MS SQL
Server result.

Cheers

Hi Serge,

Thanks for the pointer, I've been there and downloaded the full specs
for it already but I'm not looking for the results, I want to run the
benchmark myself against my system. I need to clarify some things
about how SQL Server works internally and I need a workload I can
easily modify. At the moment I'm using Quest's Benchmark Factory which
does the job well, but I'd really prefer something whose code I have
access to and that I can easily modify.

All the best,
Olivier

The Transaction Processing Performance Council publishes the spec but doesn't
release freely-available source code for its benchmarks.

You can check with the TPC to see whether its policies have changed it recent
years, but in the past, it was rather protective about its benchmarks.
David McGoveran was write about middleware benchmarking in the mid-90s for DBMS
magazine. He was told by the TPC he couldn't use their benchmarks.

The magazine's archive (www.dbmsmag.com) might have the official statement by
TPC.

You might look at the OSDB benchmark. It's "open source" and I've
gotten portions of it working.

Two places to look:
