Hello all,
Thinking about building a new database in the enterprise addition of
sql server and using some horizontal parititioning techniques in order
to accomaodat what will eventually be a monster huge database.
Can you share some hard earned experience, gotchas, etc...with me? We
will be setting up this server on a SAN array that will be made up of
just one or two huge virtual RAID10 volumes and I am also wondering
about the wisdom of this? Its simple and should work, but is that
config relevant in any way specifically to our plan to partition?
You might find these links useful (the second is linked from the first):

If you need more information, it might be useful to clarify what you mean by
"horizontal parititioning techniques" - in Books Online, this seems to be
used to mean partitioning data across multiple physical servers, but since
you mention using a single server, presumably you're talking about a
somewhat different solution.
