Business Intelligence developer, Yellowfin, has taken two mature
technologies - BI and GIS - and combined them to create its flagship
solution, Yellowfin Business Intelligence 4.0.
According to CEO Glen Rabie (pictured), Yellowfin is also actively
seeking resellers to promote the product into different market
segements.
“Our target markets are software vendors, SMEs and Corporates. Any
business that needs to analyse its data - it's really that broad.
Customers include the largest makers of kitty litter in the US, a NZ
payments company, legal companies, telecommunication and a plumbing
company,” he said.
Rabie claimed the local company was 100 percent channel. “We do no
direct selling ourselves and we only work with the channel. Some of
our partners include Progress Software, Sybase, Ingres, Logica CMG and
Kyocera Maruzen,” he said.
A large component of version 4.0 has been focused on enhancing
existing functionality by altering the user interface, said Rabbie.
Yellowfin completely re-designed the view builder and chart designer
using the latest AJAX techniques to lend a 'wow' factor to what is
generally perceived as a mundane task.
Rabie claimed the addition of Location Intelligence to Yellowfin
allows organisations to introduce location-based reporting into the
business decision making process without requiring Geographic
Information Systems.
Yellowfin 4.0 also enables a variety of mapping visualisations to be
used including Google Maps, Heat Maps or fully-enabled GIS data-type
rendering.
“We use wizards and standard Web navigation so that anyone using a Web
browser can visualise data through charts, dashboards and alerts,” he
said.
