Log shipping wizard doesn't show up in Enterprise Manager

I thought I'd give the SQL Server 2000's log shipping wizard a try (in
the past I've always done it with Perl scripts), so I attemted to set
it up on one of my servers. But in the maintenance plan wizard, I
don't get the checkbox at the bottom of the window to "Ship the
transactions logs to other SQL Servers (log shipping)" as it shows in
this article:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro.../logship1.mspx

Can anyone tell me what's wrong here? Please post to the newsgroup.

Thanks,

Steve

Sorry for the perhaps obvious question, but is it SQL Server Enterprise Edition?

The log shipping GUI is not available in editions like Standard, MSDE... you
can still use log shipping but you don't have access to the wizard.

Hi,

How to check the edition, execute the below command from query analyzer:-

select serverproperty('edition')

If you SQL Server edition is non Enterprise edition, you have to configure
logshipping manually.

Have a look into the below link for more details on settingup and monitoring
logshipping:-

http://www.sql-server-performance.co...g_shipping.asp

Thanks, yeah, I can't believe I missed that in two different sets of
documentation that I read on the subject. I actually discovered it
after I posted this message, but before it showed up on the newsgroup
(via Googlegroups); I was going to post a followup but got distracted.

Thanks everyone!

Is that the procedure linked to by Hari, below, or something else?

There is no one specific procedure; I haven't used Hari's, and I'm sure it's
fine, but the key is you have to do it manually instead of using the wizard.
