how to decrease the size of database

i have a database in sql server of size 30gb
how i decrease the database size but data should not be loos

please send some idea

i am confused becase i am not sure wheather the data in database is lost or not
can you tell me after shrinking where the data of reduced size go

It's still there. It will free up those space that are not being used. When we create tables and then drop them later, the database already allotted space for it but will not be reclaimed automatically.

If you're afraid of loosing your data, create a back up of your db before doing anything.
