Changing the name in the ServerName column

Hi,

I'm in the process of moving a database from a server running Windows 2000 SP4
to a PC running XP SP2.
Basically, here's what I've managed to do so far:

Made a full backup of the database on the server and then
restored it onto the PC.

Both running MS SQL Server 2000 SP3; though the server has Standard edition
while PC has Personal edition since Standard edition prerequisite is at least
a Windows 2000 Server.

Next step in the list as advised by the vendor of the product
was to change the server name in the ServerName column in a couple of tables;
due to the name difference of the machines.

I've managed to change them in a couple of tables but not others with the
following pop-up error dialog box:

SQL Server Enterprise Manager

Another user has modified the contents of this table or view; the database
row you are modifying no longer exists in the database.
Database error:'[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]UPDATE statement
conflicted with COLUMN REFERENCE contraint 'FK_ScaDESPluginRegs_ScaDESServers'.
The conflict occurred in database 'ScaSystemDB', table 'ScaDESPlugInRegs',
column 'ServerName'.
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The statement has been
terminated.'

I've searched the net but couldn't find a resolution to this.

Anyone able to help in deciphering as to way I'm getting the above error and
how to correctly go about renaming the ServerName column in tables.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Daniel

The error message seems to indicate that you first have to update the
ServerName in table ScaDESServers, then in table ScaDESPluginRegs
(boy, I hope I don't have that backwards :-))

You probably need to do this with INSERT and DELETE. You should speak to
the vendor again, as apparently the advice you got was incomplete.
