select parameter order

Which is more efficient

Where NonindexedColumn=x and IndexedColumn=y
or
Where IndexedColumn=y and NonindexedColumn=x

or does matter? Will the optimiser work it out?

(I'm building the SQL string on the fly in the fron-end)
