Image datatype problem?

I have an ASP application loading jpeg images into an image datatype
on a SQL Server 2000 database. Most images are stored and retrieved
with no problem. Occasionally, an when an image is stored and
retrieved it appears corrupted.

Here's the kicker. A Microsoft Image Editor will read the image file
correctly, and will be able to save the file (which fixes it). When
displaying the file through an <IMG> tag, it treats it like an invalid
file. When loading the file into the GIMP editor or the ADOBE editor,
it gives some error that seems to say that the file's data was cut off
at the end.

Any ideas?
