Mail Client...SQL Server and another app. on same machine?

I'm trying to setup SQLMail on a SQL Server. The same server has an
application running on it, which successfully uses Outlook as a mail
client. I have setup a Mail Profile under Outlook for the current
login, which is the same login that the SQL Agent is running under.
After going through the SQLMail setup, when I go to the SQL Server
Agent Properties, I'm not able to select a mail profile (there is no
drop-down list).

The only reason I can think that this isn't working is because the
other application on the system has taken over the Profile and won't
allow the SQL Agent to use it.

Is this a possible cause? Is there a workaround, other than
seperating the application and database functions onto different
servers?

Thanks for your help.
