There are some small examples in the new BOL, but not what I look for.
Has anyone some good links with xevents showing wait stats?
X-Events seems to be a feature that it will take some time to digest.
I get the impression that it is primarily meant to be a building block
to build tools on. For SQL 2008, the only feature to use X-Events is
SQL Audit. I would expect more in the next version of SQL Server.
Of course, you could still use X-Events to run your on trace, but I have
not come around to try that yet.
From a fellow MVP, I got these links to presentations on X-Events:
SQL Server 2008 Advanced Troubleshooting with Extended Events
http://www.microsoft.com/events/Even...taSvcParams%5e
Extended Events (Xevents)
http://www.microsoft.com/heroeshappe...8/default.mspx
I had to through a lot of hassle to view the first one, whereas accessing
the second was just a key-click.
Unfortunately, none of the presentations very good with examples. The
first is marred by technical problems, so most of the demos are lost.
The guy in the second video is very fast, and has this funny id of
saying "sp underscore statement underscore completed". He has some
good examples in the demos, but you may not be able to see his queries
in full.
