Moving from one server to another

Hi all,

I have been given the task of moving an sql database from one server
to another. These servers are not on the same network. I know I can
detach the database, copy it to a new location, then FTP it to the new
server and re-attach it.

My question is, is this the best way to do this? Or is there another
way? I have access to both servers through Enterprise Manager.

TIA

An alternative is to take backups and move those instead.
