table mantenance within a replicated database

When I try to remove a table, it complains because it's part of a
publication. I could script the publication and subscriptions such
that they can be deleted, the table removed, and then added again.
But, I not sure if this is the 'best' approach.

Anyone faced this challenge before?

Ayup.

And basically that's what you've got to do.

Well, really if you're using SQL 2000, all you need to do is remove all
SUBSCRIBERS (you don't need to remove the publication).
