Hosting Databases on USB (2) Hard Drive

A test system I am looking at has been configured with the databases
on a USB 2.0 hard disk. I'm worried about performance, has anyone
else tried this before or benchmarked this kind of setup?

Databases are each between 5 and 10 GB

Many thanks,
John
