Types of Functions

In SQL, There are two types of functions-
1) Aggregate--They operate against a set of values & return single value.
EXAMPLES- Max,Min,Count.....
2) Scalar--They operate against a single value & return single value.

Can somebody give me the examples of Scalar functions....
